Francesco Aliberti, Coach
Francesco Aliberti maintains an active career as vocal coach, chorus master, and harpsichordist. Since 2007 he has held the positions as assistant chorus master at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Italy, where he has prepared productions of PARSIFAL, PETER GRIMES, PORGY AND BESS, L’ENFANT ET LE SORTILÈGE, DAMNATION DE FAUST, SYMPHONY OF PSALMS, Rossini’s STABAT MATER and PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE, Verdi’s TE DEUM and STABAT MATER, EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM, Fauré’s REQUIEM, and the world premiere of De Simone’s HYMN TO ISIS. He holds the position of assistant conductor and chorus master at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in his native city Salerno where he has prepared many productions including MACBETH, CARMEN, MANON LESCAUT and TURANDOT. He has worked with some of the most distinguished conductors of our time including Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Zubin Mehta, Jeffrey Tate, Bruno Campanella, and Donato Renzetti.
As a sought-after recitalist, he has collaborated with artists such as Giovanna Casolla, Daniela Dessi, Renato Bruson, Eva Mei, among others. In addition to his expertise in the traditional operatic repertoire, he is a specialist in harpsichord and continuo playing, having himself devoted to the study of the repertoire of Neapolitan seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, performing on original instruments kept in the Library of San Pietro a Majella in Naples, and appearing on a documentary for Japanese television about the old Neapolitan music. In the field of ancient music he has collaborated with prestigious groups such as the Association Fodella in Milan, the Association Scarlatti in Naples, the Renaissance Music Festival 2013 in Copenhagen, the Bach Festival in Lousanne, the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti in the Ravello Festival, Munich Prinzregententheater, and the Teatro San Carlo Baroque Ensemble.
He frequently returns to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing as assistant conductor where he has prepared CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA / I PAGLIACCI, MACBETH, L’ELISIR D’AMORE, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, IL TROVATORE and IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. For the Guangzhou Opera House he has prepared productions of UN BALLO IN MASCHERA and CARMEN. He has been teaching Choral Music in Conservatorio in Reggio Calabria since 2016, and will work as chorus master of Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa.
Francesco Aliberti graduated from the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples with a degree in piano performance, music education, choral conducting, composition and voice with the highest honors. A composer, pedagogue and frequent contributor in music journals with a particular focus also on philosophy and ecology, he has also published treatises on early music performance practice, various musical compositions for chamber music and voice, as well as articles on pedagogy and music theory.
