Michele Kidd Sylvester, Voice Teacher
Michele Kidd Sylvester has enjoyed quite a varied career in music, from singer to voice teacher to vocal coach to dramatic coach to oboist to opera career management to business administration.
As a dramatic coloratura soprano she sang across the US in such roles as Violetta / LA TRAVIATA, Adele / DIE FLEDERMAUS, Micaëla / CARMEN, Mimi / LA BOHÈME, Gilda / RIGOLETTO, Miss Wordsworth / ALBERT HERRING, Magda / THE CONSUL, and others. Her concert repertoire included Handel’s Messiah, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Fauré’s Requiem, Rossini’s Le Petit Messe Solennelle, as well as other diverse concerts and recitals.
Currently Ms. Sylvester is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Wichita State University. Michele Kidd Sylvester has distinguished herself as a teacher and coach for singers of all ages.
In addition to her musical and vocal skills, Michele Sylvester also has a considerable talent as an actor. She brings this sense of theatricality to her work with singers, helping them with their musical interpretation. Many of her students have found this aspect of her tutelage helpful with auditions and in performance.
